"You ought to know you’ve gone off the rails when Saddam Hussein is appalled by your behavior."

Yeah. Michael Totten gives a look at the new film The Devil's Double, about Ltif Yahia, the man forced to be a body double for the bloodthirsty, hedonistic, murderous fiend Uday Hussein.

Read it all.

David Carradine, Dead at 72.

Wow. Story here (HT: Althouse):

David Carradine, the star of the 1970s television series “Kung Fu” and the title villain of the “Kill Bill” movies, has died in Thailand, The Associated Press reported. The United States Embassy in Bangkok told The A.P. that Mr. Carradine had been found dead in his hotel suite in Bangkok, where he was working on a movie. He was 72.

Tragic. It's the end of an era, RIP.

UPDATE: Apparently, he was found hanged in his hotel room closet. Suicide? More forthcoming.

UPDATE#2: It most likely wasn't suicide, and it may have been accidental.

More on Transformers

OK, so obviously some people didn't agree with my assessment of the film. I think we must have been watching different movies. Don't get me wrong, this movie had noticeable flaws, and I say this as die-hard Transformers fan for over twenty years, but it was very good. I think Cooper was entirely too harsh, and her critique reads as a non-fan critique, where as my critique (and my issues with the film are from a fan's perspective.

For the sequel, Michael Bay needs to be as far away from this franchise as possible.
